This plan splits Fairfax County's Woodburn precinct (#717) in half and separates our residents from local FCPS schools, our nearest post office, and our member of Congress who has known our neighborhood for decades.
Alison Ludwig Coops
All of these plans are moving my 7th district to northern Virginia. It makes no sense to include my suburban Richmond area into a southern Virginia district.
David Boyd
I really like that Reston is redistricted out of the 11th District in all options. We felt out of place in the previous district, as we feel more attached to areas in western Fairfax and eastern Loudoun counties.
Theodore Bloechle
I don't like that this map breaks up the Dulles Technology Corridor. As a resident of Tyson's Corner, I feel we have much more in common with McLean and Reston than Vienna or Arlington.

I strongly urge you to keep Lynchburg City whole, and all parts of the city within ONE Congressional House district because we are one community of interest. The currently proposed maps put two voting precincts in Congressional House District 5, and all of the rest of Lynchburg City in Congressional House District 6. This makes no practical sense and makes administering Federal elections more expensive for the City. It is also confusing to voters. All of Lynchburg belongs in ONE Congressional House district.

Goochland has much more in common with Henrico and Louisa than rural counties at the NC border. Please keep the 7th District the way it is with Goochland in it.

Please make Lynchburg whole. Please do not divide Lychburg between CD5 and CD6.

I DO NOT like this proposed Congressional map because two precincts within Ward II in the City of Lynchburg are separated from the rest of Lynchburg in this map. The currently proposed maps split two precincts in Ward II in the City of Lynchburg into the 5th Congressional district, and put the rest of the City of Lynchburg into the 6th Congressional district. Ward II is a majority-minority area predominantly of African-Americans and was created as such to give this group fair representation in public policy matters. It makes no sense to break up this community into two Congressional House districts! It will break up this minority group's political clout and lead to voter confusion and disengagement from the democratic process. It will also make it more expensive for the City of Lynchburg to hold Federal elections because two separate ballots would have to be printed: one ballot for two precincts in Ward II, and another ballot for the rest of the City of Lynchburg. This is foolish, impractical and expensive. Please RESTORE the City of Lynchburg as the ONE community of interest that we are, and keep Lynchburg intact, and put Ward II in the same map with the rest of Lynchburg.
Neal Sumerlin
The City of Lynchburg should NOT be split between two Congressional districts. The commission has heard from the beginning that we are a distinct community of interest. Precincts in Ward 2 have been split off in a clear case of racial gerrymandering that is unlikely to survive legal challenge. RESTORE the City of Lynchburg as a single entity, a single community of interest.
Andy Smith
SW Richmond suburbs are split off from the rest of the surrounding Richmond area. Seems like an obvious way to dilute the opinions of this region. Chesterfield does not have anything in common with areas on the North Carolina border.
Joel Galloway
This map does a bad job of maintaining communities on interest in the Richmond area. Chesterfield does not belong with the rural counties on the south, and the Henrico should not be split 3 ways together. Henrico and Chesterfield belongs together. The district should be reconfigured to make it more competitive because this current map dilutes Democratic vote share in a state where no Republican has won statewide since 2009.
Thomas Ado
I am really happy with the compactness of this map. The commission has done a great job maintaining communities with this fair map.
E. S. McCoy
This map of congressional districts is so much better than what it is replacing. However, I do not like the fact that Lynchburg is split into two congressional districts. Lynchburg is a community of interest and needs to be kept complete in one congressional district. Also, there is that strange little section of the 6th district that protrudes into Roanoke county. Surely it would be better to keep all of Roanoke county together.
Janet Ross
Why is Williamsburg separated away from James City county? The 2 areas share same school system, libraries, and police force.
Timothy Hruz
No sensible reason for small Clarke Co to be linked to the mega NOVA counties. It makes more sense to include it in with the more low density 7th
Timothy Hruz
This is the most nonsensical split of Prince William Co I could possibly imagine. The densely populated I-95 makes the most sense to pair with the Fairfax dominated 11th.
Adam Rizzoli
Richmond's western suburbs are split among 2 districts. This is a clear gerrymander meant to silence this region of Virginia.
Tad Miller
The Shenandoah Valley and the I-81 Corridor is a community of interest that should be valued as much, if not more than "compactness" for just the purpose of being compact.
District 6 should extend up Interstate 81 North and should NOT include Charlottesville-Albemarle.
It's an obvious Gerrymander to Crack Charlottesville-Albemarle and water down it's voting power.
There should instead be a Central Virginia district between Albemarle County and Western Henrico County.
